News Velocity
How many headlines are being published about a stock right now, versus its own normal — and which outlets are carrying it. A surge in headline flow is usually the first public trace of a story that is about to move a price.
Why headline flow is worth watching
Price tells you that something happened. Headline flow tells you how many desks are writing about it, which is a decent proxy for how much further the story has to travel. A ticker running at 4× its usual daily headline count with eight distinct outlets on it is in a different state from one running at 0.8× with a single syndicated wire item.
This tool measures exactly that, and nothing else: headlines in the last 24 hours, the ticker's own 6-day daily average as a baseline, the ratio between them, and the roster of outlets currently covering it.
This page samples three public feeds on a delay. Top Tier Newswire aggregates 40+ sources into one feed with sub-2-second latency, sentiment tagging and custom watchlists — the free tier is a live delayed feed, Pro unlocks real-time.
