Stage 3 — Final demand (30+ days overdue)

Before you send

• Always name the invoice number, the amount and the original due date — vague chasers are easy to ignore and useless as evidence later.
• Only claim late-payment interest if your contract or local law provides for it. If your contract is silent, many jurisdictions still grant a statutory rate — check yours before quoting a number.
• Keep every message in writing and in one thread. If this ends up in small claims, that thread is your case.
• Stop work at stage 2, not stage 3. Continuing to deliver while unpaid is how a $2,000 problem becomes a $9,000 one.
